Overview

The greenhouse gases in our atmosphere are to the limit, meaning that they form one more layer of greenhouse gases that allow sunlight to enter, so as it returns from the surface of the Planet, it is reflected back into the space, because of the greenhouse gas layer it is not radiated back into space so it warms the globe. As an increased amount of energy (heat) entering the planet from the sun is stored in the atmosphere, the steady rise in the surface temperature of the earth's atmosphere is global warming.

Goals

  • To Promote use of renewable energy sources
  • To Make people aware of the Consequences we and the nature has to face as a result of a act
  • To Understand how we can do something to reduce the Impact of Global Warming
  • To understand why to use Renewable energy

Problems and Importance

  • Rapid Climate Change
  • Water Levels Rissing faster than ever before
  • Acid Rain
  • Glaciers Melting
  • Holes in Ozone Layer
  • Temperature has rise of 4 degrees in just a few years whereas from the Ice age until now it has rise only 4 degrees.

Questions to Answer

  • What is/are the solution to Global warming
  • Why should we use renewable energy sources like:
  • Electricity
  • Bio gas
  • Solar energy
  • Wind Energy
  • Hydro electrical energy
  • How can sustainable agriculture help us
  • How is each country contributing to Global warming

Sustainable agriculture and forest management strategies

What is sustainable agriculture?

Green agriculture is the application of sustainable development principles to agriculture: ensuring the production of food, wood, and fibers while respecting the ecological, economic, and social limits that ensure the durability of this production. For instance, sustainable farming minimizes the use of pesticides that can harm the health of farmers and consumers.

What do we do in Sustainable Agriculture?
No till farming: Reducing or allowing tillage allows to grow crops without disturbing soil arrangement and thus reduce erosion, but also increases the amount of in filtering water, boosts organic matter retention and nutrient cycle.
Crop rotation is a practise of growing a variety of different crops on the same plot in sequence . Polyculture is an important element of soil fertility management and pests and therefore an asset for Increasing yields.
Integrated Pest Management (IPM): IPM is an ecosystem-based strategy that focuses on long-term prevention of pests or their damage through a combination of techniques such as biological control, habitat manipulation, modification of cultural practices, and use of resistant varieties

What are the advantages of Sustainable Agriculture?

  • ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

The first advantage of sustainable agriculture is the protection of the environment, reducing erosion and natural resource degradation, improving air and water quality, increasing biodiversity, as well as decreasing carbon emissions.

  • PUBLIC HEALTH IMPROVEMENT

Sustainable agriculture doesn't use hazardous pesticides and fertilizers. As a result, farmers are able to produce safer and healthier food for consumers and surrounding communities.

  • ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL EQUITY

Another benefit of sustainable farming methods is that they provide decent income, but also jobs, food and other goods and services for the majority of people now living in poverty. Besides, it allows to boost rural territories and create social links between the rural and urban world.

Sustainable agriculture challenges

  • Food security and productivity: Even though it is more reasonable, it cannot offer the same short-term returns. With the growing population and the persistently high levels of hunger and malnutrition, sustainable agriculture yields need to address the food security issue by producing more in less time, while using fewer natural resources.
  • Natural resources availability: The other big challenge that green agriculture is facing is undoubtedly the rapid degradation and depletion of natural resources.

Electric Cars

What is an electric car?

An electric vehicle (EV) is one that operates on an electric motor, instead of an internal-combustion engine that generates power by burning a mix of fuel and gases. Electric Vehicle Benefits and Considerations.

How does an electric car work?

Electric cars function by plugging into a charge point and taking electricity from the grid. They store the electricity in rechargeable batteries that power an electric motor, which turns the wheels. Electric cars accelerate faster than vehicles with traditional fuel engines – so they feel lighter to drive. Electric cars run at least partially on electricity. Unlike conventional vehicles that use a gasoline or diesel-powered engine, electric cars and trucks use an electric motor powered by electricity from batteries or a fuel cell.

Disadvantages or advantages of electric cars
Negative things about electrical cars: Indirect pollution from electric cars While electric cars don't emit exhaust fumes, they do use batteries which can emit toxic fumes. Most electricity used to power electric vehicles is generated from non-renewable energy sources, which can have a negative impact on both our health and the environment.

Disadvantages of electric cars:
  • Finding charging stations can be challenging.

  • Charging can take a while.

  • The driving range is limited.

  • Initial costs are expensive.

  • Battery packs can be expensive to replace.

Advantages of electric cars:
  • They simply convert the electrical energy from a battery to rotate a motor which in turn rotates the wheels. So they produce zero levels of any pollutant gas or particulate matter and effectively run on 100% clean energy.
  • Electric cars are better for the environment
  • Electricity is Less Expensive than Gas.
  • Electric Cars Tend to Be Quiet.
  • Less maintenance
  • And more such things count in advantages

How is each country contributing to Global warming

The release of carbon dioxide is a huge problem to this day. In the year 2019, the world emitted 37 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide, which is more than 50% than the year 2000 and nearly 3 times more than 50 years ago. CO2 is not the only problem. A huge amount of methane and nitrous oxide are being pumped as well. Combining all this, we are pumping a total of 51 billion tons of greenhouse gases. Who is to blame?
All countries agree that we must reduce emissions, but no one wants to take responsibility. The developed countries like the USA point out their own efforts to reduce emissions and blame developing countries like China for most of the emissions. The developing countries argue that the reason for emitting is for survival (eg: driving tractors to make crops) while the developed countries’ emissions are to make their lifestyle comfortable.
In 2017, about 36 billion tons of CO2 were emitted.

These are the top 10 carbon dioxide producers:

Fashion v/s Earth

Mihika Bhagat Tanush Tulaskar Omkar Vishwakarma  Dheer Padhiar Overview Measuring thousands of tons, discarded clothes and production waste are regularly shipped to developing countries like India. India is also one of the largest producers and exporter of textiles in the world. Not just are we producing waste in huge quantities, we are also accountable for the bulk of this world’s textile waste.  Goals To promote recycling textile waste Promoting the use of products made by textile waste. To understand the affordability, quality and the scales of different Indian products made by textile waste To make people aware of the problems Problems and Importance The fashion industry is producing nearly a billion garments every year After just 3-5 wears, 60% of the clothes we discard are being landfilled It takes 2,700 liters of water to make a single T-shirt The chemical dyeing of clothes accounts for 20% of the globe’s industrial waste water The fashion industry emits more gre...

Plastic waste into Fuel

Plastic Fuel and Earth DHHYANI DAMA  AABHA PATIL  VED AMIN  SHIVEN SONI  SHREY  Outline Plastic is something that is all around us. We use it every day in each and everything. Let it be in cutlery or furniture like chairs, plastic had surrounded us from all the sides. But most of it lands up on our roads and buildings, which pollutes the world. Hence,  for our climate action, we thought of converting plastic waste that we see all around us into fuel, which will prevent climate change to increase.  "THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS 'AWAY' WHEN WE THROW ANYTHING AWAY IT MUST GO SOMEWHERE"  - Annie Leonard This was the quote by Annie Leonard that inspired us to convert plastic waste to fuel. We thought if the plastic has to be somewhere, then why not fuel, it will prevent fossil fuels from burning as well as reducing plastic waste.  This is a photo taken by Dhhyani Dama during her trip to Gujurat. We thought that why not try ...
